Hello All,new here and have enjoyed reading posts here.I have a near flawless DV-52 that I am considering selling. Is E-Bay a good place to advertise or any other sites?I bought this several years ago and tried to teach myself how to play.My construction/motorcycle grip hands have not helped much. This guitar sits in it's case untouched 99.9% of it's life. This guitar sounds wonderful when played (by someone that knows how),just not by me.I am not totally certain if I am going to sell, but it just seems like a waste sitting around.I could always find some new chrome for my Harley with the money from the guitar. What would a good starting price be?$1000... more...less?Thanks

Welocome, Deuce, I'm sure you'd be able to sell it here and avoid e-bay, if that's what you'd like.

What year is your DV-52? I would say what you're asking is about the average or slightly higher than what's been on ebay in the last year. If it's mint, it's definitely worth what you're asking in my opinion. Good luck with that!

Welcome to LTG Deuce. The DV52 gets lots of love in these parts.

I think $1k is very reasonable for a mint DV52. If not for a daughter's upcoming wedding, I'd consider buying it as a bookend for mine. I restrung it last weekend and can't keep my hands off that thing.

HI Deuce welcome aboard. Actually to get a really good idea you should send that thing around for some free appraisals by the folks here who really know the guitars.

I don't mean to hijack this thread but how does the DV-52 compare to the D50 and the D55.

I'm looking for a companion guitar for my D25 and in an earlier post I was told that the DV-52 would be a good candidate.

Hi Fergi....that is a great idea. You should just start it off as a new thread, "how does....." that way you may get more folks looking in who might not enter into this one. Go for it mate! I for one would love to read about that......and these guys around here KNOW. there is the NEW D50s with the different tops to the older 50's....55 's with more fancy looks etc...so yea....NEW TREAD!
I am in the process of getting a lovely fiddleback '77 D25 from a member here......but it may be a bit till she is right. THEN , when I do, I TOO can compare them. ,...and have something meaningful to say on this matter. But, for what its worth...I have a mint d52..from'93......ABSOLUTELY MAGIC.... I love the thing! the sound is majestic!.....rich, full, ballanced......my wife LOVES it too. ( that helps future gas! :D ) I love the simplicity of her looks and her fine, top quality, but simple appointments. Ill save the fancy ware for the maple f50! ...... far off in the distant future! See ya on the new tread! Southern

Don't mean to hijack Deucer's thread, but for fergi and southernguild...
There have been a couple threads on D-50 vs D-55 vs DV-52 comparisons in the last couple years... some of the started by me, when I was looking for a rosewood dread (funny how I now have two!). Here's one of the threads, with metalman's observations on 50 vs 55.

Another thread I saw at one point compared the sound of the DV-52 favorably with the D-55.

My own comparisons (between my "new" '76 D-50 and my "older" '92 D-55) have just begun... and there is clearly a "family resemblance" in their overall sound. So far (<1 week), I would say my D-50 might be a smidge louder then my 55... The 50 has the gut rumbling bass of the 55, but the trebles ring thru a bit more. This is more pronounced when fingerpicking (with bare nails)... my 55's trebles seem a bit muted, then. Strummed with a pick they are both strong and resonant... There is a different feel to the frets and necks... the 50's neck is a little chunkier and the frets higher. But, I haven't had any problem going back and forth. If the sound of a DV-52 is ANYWHERE in the ballpark of my two D-5X, I don't think you would be disappoinited...

Good hunting to those looking, and good luck selling to deucer!

Here are some pics of the guitar.Yesterday was gloomy and raining,so the lighting was bad and they didn't turn out well. The guitar is a Guild Dv-52 NT HG.Serial # is AD522480 made in Westerly,RI.It has a SKB hardshell case. There is only 1 flaw I could find.My son knocked it off it's stand and the head has a small blemish when it was about a week old.Unless you know it's there,it doesn't stand out.I still have the original hang tags.Any idea on value? Thanks again!
