Hey guys! I've been meaning to post this - I captured a pretty nice representation of my 1981 X-500 tone on my camcorder - a first for me. Previously the sound I would get from the camcorder was pretty lame, but I discovered it has an external input so I plugged my looper into it. I hope you guys like it.

It is currently in the shop waiting for its new fret wire to come in. It has taken a lot longer than I thought.

Hey thanks alot guys!! I appreciate the kind words.

John, yes it is a 1981 - I got it new - my parents got it for me as a high school graduation gift. As I mentioned in my first thread on this board - I have had a love/hate relationship with this guitar! But after all these years I think I am finally discovering this instrument. Like Joe said - it has a smooth sweet tone that I never heard until recently!

Oh yeah, sorry for the goofy jazz faces!!

You guys are great. Thanks again.

Great job!

One of these days I'm going to need to learn how to record good audio and post the way you did.

Thanks again to everyone for the good words!

And I'm happy to keep them coming! Here's another similar thing I did with the looper on "In A Sentimental Mood."

Hope y'all like it. The x500 has such a nice tone - and I also like it because it's not "Gibson-like" at all. It's just a very honest sweet rich tone.

Thanks marcellis! Glad you like!

Wow it got awfully quiet after I posted the soundclick! Maybe not much to say about it.

Anyhoo - here's my last installment I promise. It's a fullly solo rendition (no looper) of Black Orpheus I recorded on my Tascam DR-40. It is a really nice reharmonization courtesy of one of my awesome guitar teachers from years past. The specifics of what I played however were fairly spontaneous (as proven by the occasional clam). But I felt it actually went somwhere from beginning to end.

But the focus here is again the awesome tone of the X500. Hope you archtop guys dig it.

Thanks for listening!

Vince

Very well done. Nice chops and the tone is brilliant. I could listen to this stuff all day. Thanks for sharing.
Are you missing a link in your post above or did I read it wrong?

......It that one from 79-82? I ask, because in my opinion, Guild made some fantastic darker 'bursts during that period, and yours sure looks like one of them. :D
Some years get excellent colouring , and other periods are rather disappointing . When I got the 2001 X500 , I opted for blonde ( but that too needed some honey-tone really ) because the
sunburst was lime-yellow and horrible ( as was a late nineties AA I saw ) .
