Dare I wonder if alcohol plays a role? Supposedly, one of the reasons drunk drivers have such a high survival rate in devastating crashes is because they are drunk, and thus are less likely to "tense up", so the impact isn't as damaging to their bodies.
Could also explain why he's feeling no pain and walks away...

I too thought that the man might be, let's say artificially pliant. But after viewing the video, I'm not convinced. The accompanying test said that the driver was involved in a high speed chase. And the pedestrian.would not have been able to regain his balance so readily if he had been imbibing.

One part seems a bit fishy to me. There when the pedestrian hits the windshield the view of blurred, but it appears that the wind shield cracks. Yet a moment later, when the pedestrian slides off the hood of the car and walks away, there is no apparent damage to the windshield (or the dashcam for that matter). I wonder how common it is for people to have dash cams in Russia.
I'm a bit skeptical. It's that blur when the pedestrian hits the good that makes me suspicious. And that he managed time his jump just right so as to land on top of the car.

I thought exactly the same thing... one second the windscreen is smashed, the next its a clear view albeit from an angle. But the initial cracking covered way more than just a portion of the windscreen

The nurse told me a similar thing after I fell out of a tree in New Caledonia...

A cursory glance at this gives me some initial reactions:

1) the footage is likely real.
2) if you're going to get hit by a car, do what this guy did and jump UP. If you stay on your feet, then friction comes into play and you'll end up with a couple of broken legs or worse.
3) after suffering MANY sports type injuries (dozens of broken bones, etc) I can tell you that nearly every time, it took minutes and sometimes even hours to realize that I was seriously injured. This is an amazing aspect of our bodies. Instant fight/flight reaction. Maybe a while later the guy could move his wrist or arm around and say "hey, waitaminute."

The reason the picture is clear is because the windshield popped out of its seat and ends up BEHIND the camera.

If this were Mythbusters, at first glance I would call this one "plausible".

What I'd like to know is what he was doing in the tree in the first place.

I was young, it was late after a very big night & I was getting called from a 4th storey balcony by 2 fetching maidens. I thought climbing the tree would be the quickest way to get there...

Technically I didn't fall out of the tree as I was still clutching the broken off tree branch when I hit the ground. Once I sat up & confirmed I was still alive, I said to myself "Well, that was stupid".
