:?: have oppertunity to purchase gibson j-50 when I looked it over, found the gibson logo on the head stock, gibson logo on the trust rod cover, gibson oval (peach) tag inside with gibson j-50 - serial number containing eight didgets- made in bozeman montana USA . did not find imprinted serial number on back of head stock or inside. wondering if this is a fake :? sorry no photo's as I have not purchased as of yet.

Seriously, recent Gibsons have issues. Look it over very closely and you'll see what I mean.

I think the 1st and 4th numbers are the last two digits of the year. White labels are from the early 90s... Orange more recent.

For a while I owned a '91 J-45 that was a top-notch guitar. Great neck profile, good Gibson sound and the most beautiful sunburst.

Gibsons have been a real hit and mis in the past few years. Some play and sound great while others are a real dud. You really need to be able to lay your hands on it and play it before making a purchase. Gibsons used to be great, but something has happened to there QC dept lately.
