Green Day announced it will release three albums between September and January.

And in other news, Axl Rose continues to be ... um, ah, Axl Rose.

Green Day has always intrigued me, makeup and all. They somehow know how to bring out a semi-good sound out of standard rock structured music.

I hope that my life doesn't depend on it, but Axle Rose, really? I myself was just contemplating if the 2 Jakob Dylan solo albums might not be bad stuff. -Will have to check it out on youtube to see whats up.

I like them both, a lot, although you just knew the original G'n'R lineup wasn't going to last. As for Green Day, they are what they are ... sons of punk,, the bratty children of the Ramones, the Clash, the Sex Pistols, the Replacements, etc.

I like Green Day, though I didn't get into the last album as much. Dookie is still my favourite album of theirs. They were very The Who influenced on American Idiot, which is a good thing in my book. They are great pop hook writers and have had a great career.

3 albums in the space of a few months is probably pushing the attention span of even their most ardent fans, though. It's a lot to take in. Ryan Adams did a similar thing & I don't think it did him any good. Hopefully they are still exercising some for of self regulation & not just putting out everything they have jammed on in the studio. We'll see I guess.

Still, which popular act has put out so many albums in such a short space of time? Creedence did 3 in a year in the 60's I think.

Pearl Jam probably holds the record, putting out 72 live albums during their 2000 tour. They still do to this day, but not through mass merchandising outlets like they did then.

Green Day.
Personally, I like their music, but billie just sounds like he's singing flat to me. He gets on my nerves, but no where near the extent that stevie nicks does (but thats for another topic another day)
Also, apparently Green day confirmed that they will be making an "American Idiot" movie today :) .

I cut my guitar-playing teeth on Guns n Roses. I really miss the original lineup.

Green Day showed me that you can punk with style.

Both bands are in my personal top 10. Although, I kind of stopped following GnR after the Illusion albums, and I never made it too far past Dookie with Green Day.

Beatles. 64 and 65, and even right up through Magical Mystery Tour if you consider consecutive 12 month periods and not just calendar years. Then finally took a year (November '67 -Nov.'68) off to put together the White Album. Lemme tell ya, there was some heavy pent up demand for that one.
Also the Stones, even outperforming the Beatles for the same amout of time.
Curiously both bands "took a breather" around 1967. "Something in the water", maybe?
Even The Beach Boys: '63, '64, and '65. THEY took a breather in '66. Closer to the well-spring, maybe?
Boy, those wild'n'crazy baby boomers sure went for their pop music, eh?
But here's the surprise all-time winner as far as I can tell:
THE VENTURES.
EVERY year from 61-67.
THey've got a big fan on the baoard here but I can't remember who it is.
Possibly one of the most under-remembered bands of all time, at least out in this neck of the woods.
