Great report all! It's nice to see the down under contingent carrying on the LTG meet-up tradition.

Oz is definitely on my bucket list, so I might make one of theses eventually.
:D You'll be well looked after here my friend. More good times all around.

Now if I can only get Mrs. Two to stay put on a plane that long!

The next day, on his Facebook page, he shared the card with everyone.
Here's a close-up here, with comments.

What a fantastic buzz that must have been for your daughter - it was for me so I can imagine the thrill for her for Joe to put it up on his page & to have her art shown to the world. Great comments from Joe's fans as well on that page.

Thanks again to John, Rob & Damien for a great time.

Sandy, just come on down!

And yeah Buffalo Tom just on the back of their 'Let me come over' record was a real hoot live. Kept Bill's blue medium fender pick for a few years after that until it cracked (can't even remember how I got that) Funnily enough I took the mrs a few years ago to see Buffalo Tom again - shouted out 'play sunflower suit' and they just looked at each other nonchalantly sayin' no thanks. ahhhh the years................................................................................

That gig I saw them at was just after "Let Me Come Over" - it inspired me so much - more or less got me back into playing music after not touching my guitar for 3 months. Next day I played for 4 hours straight. Love that band (& they're Guild users too).

I saw them about 4 years ago - just after the 3 Easy Pieces album, which is really good. Back to basics, just the 3 of them & they rocked - and they played "Sunflower Suit"!! :D 8)

If there is such a thing, this easily qualifies as a LTG Hall of Fame thread. Thanks for sharing the experience!

Thanks Dave, It really was a great night all around, just a wonderful experience, and I think it shows in the photos. Credit goes to Zelko for pulling it all together so well.

Also, I forgot to say, I mentioned LTG to Joe Pug and He said, "I heard of you guys! Of course I'll take a photo for LTG!"
I also mentioned LadyTexan (Toni), and how she purchased his guitar case last year. He was suprised, then said "Oh Yea, I remember that. Nice lady..Say "Hello' for me, What a small world"
Next year, If Joe Pug returns, which he likely will, We'll be better organised, and have a bigger time....and, though I can't imagine a 'better' time, it might just work out that way.
We'll start to plan as soon as we get a tour date. Might have to book a room this time. :D
The story of the Harp and Card has made it's way to my daughters school, and she has shared the Joe Pug site with classmates, and the teacher has even incorperated a bit of this in the lesson plan of the day. She's feeling very happy that she made the effort to write that card. Great stuff.

Glad you enjoyed the thread Dave. Just a great night all round. Reminded me of when I was travelling through Europe & you'd meet up with some new people, you immediately have a rapport & then just share some great times together.

Very cool about your daughter John. She should be proud & I'm sure you are too, as you should be.

For those that are unaware of Joe Pug, there are a few previous threads here on LTG, some with youtube links etc. Have a listen, The man is great with words as well - I think he moved to Chicago to study to be a playwright. It shows in his lyrics. My 16 year old god-daughter who has a penchant for Leonard Cohen & Nick Cave (& Finnish Heavy Metal) heard some of his songs & exclaimed "Oh, he's such an old soul" - his lyrics certainly indicate someone wiser than his years. I think I have a man crush on him!

:shock:Zelja, That first thread you show is the one where I came to find his music.( Thanks Ridge!!!) His music has weaved it's way into my system so much by now, that I had actually forgotten 'where' I met him. Wow, there it is!
"An Old soul' is just what my wife said. I've introduced his music to quite a few folks here and that is one of the common suprises....He 'sounds' so different than he looks. Most are suprised to see him as a handsome young guy. After a while though, it all just comes together and that whole Joe Pug sound all fits. I hope we continue to hear and see alot from this young artist. He's such a genuine person, and a hard working musician. It's good to see his fanbase growing.
I only found out today that he and Steve Earle are actually close friends. Not only did they tour together, but Steve also gave him advice about songwriting. They stay in pretty close contact. Cool. 8)
Ok, now i'll go and check out the rest of those links

Thanks, Zelja...

I needed this guy. Had no idea he even existed, and the connections with Steve Earle and Springsteen swing it for me. Love the music.

Take care,

Casey

Thanks, John.

I think I'd be very lucky to see him live, unless he gigs in Nowheresville from time to time. I'm about five hours away from London. There's always a maybe. :)

Only 5 hours?! We'd travel that far after work just for a meat pie down under

(Actually I wrote that and realised that 5 hours may not equate to 500km's like it does down here but rather a much shorter distance at much much slower speeds... just like in Sydney but very unlike here in the bush)

Y'Never know Casey, He just may get close enough to your town or you to see him. His website will put it out as soon as it's booked. You can sighn up to his emails there as well. Nothing annoying at all, he just sends out info regarding music releases and tours in your particular area. That would be a good way to go.
This will get you there.

Seeing him live is a really something special. It seemed to take him and his music to a new level in my appreciation of it. I heard lines in his songs that I had never heard beore, though they were always there. What is already very 'personal', became even more so. Deep, became deeper. Very nice, and completely unexpected.
I live about 2 hours drive out of Sydney, and I often pass up on seeing live shows that I'd like to see because of all the hassle in travel etc. Thanks to Zelko and Rob, this was all made much much easier, and was allot of fun, but I tell you, seeing Joe Pug live is worth any hassle. I've been to many a show and concert in my days, and this one was right up there with the best! ( Good company helps too :D ) I think it's safe to say that none of us will miss seeing him again.
I look foreward to hearing your post Joe Pug show report.
Great sig line there too.......I had a little laugh on Dec 3rd,.....Ahhhh, "There's roadsalt on I-95"

I'm a little late to the thread...some killer deadlines have been keeping me rather busy. But, boy, oh boy, what a great LTG story, John! Joe is simply just a great guy and artist. Love the pictures.

P.S. I have Joe's case for his D25 he had with him in Oz. ;)
