In honor of the latest blizzard to assault us here on the east coast (which hasn't yet amounted to much), I've finally posted my series of articles on the lessons we learned during our 14 days without power after Hurricane Sandy.

The main post is here, where you can find the links to all the other posts: http://www.gad.net/Blog/2013/02/08/lessons-from-hurricane-sandy/

Here's a nice pic I took of the Hurricane as it was happening. And yes, I have my own weather satellite.

Enjoyed your post and the link very much. Great photo of Sandy. (Watch out Killdeer!)

I know this is LTG not LTN but what the heck; Your Newfoundlands are amazing! 150lbs. each really? Big dogs. What's the life expectancy with that breed? 8-10?

Thanks!

8-12 is more like it, but yeah, they don't live long.

Here's a picture of me with My Cozy (no longer with us):

What a great photo! :D :D

Here's my Frankie Five Angels (Frank) who I adopted at 5 and enjoyed his company for 11 years!! I had to put him down 11-25-11 and I miss him dearly.

There is a lot of thoughtful information in those posts. And they are very well-written.
I was surprised you didn't mention music as a way of coping with the life without power.

I actually had little time for music. One of the side effects of not having any power was becoming properly diurnal. When it got dark, I went to bed.

I did have some time with the acoustic, and even pulled out the old Roland Micro Cube for a couple of rock sessions. :)

I am REALLY enjoying reading this. It's ... real. And stark and ... REAL. I can imagine you didn't have a lot of time to worry about whether your Guild was made overseas or here in the States. It's about.... can I make it to tomorrow? The tough questions. We forget. Thanks for the chronicle and let me get back to my reading.... AWESOME!!

Well, that was my evenings reading. Much better than the fiction I'm currently on. Thanks for the effort and the chronicle. GREAT stuff and extremely well written. :D
