You know what I hate? When you go to a burger joint and you get a slice of an end of a tomato complete with stem.

In a summer during 70's I was doing some battlefield touring near Petersburg, VA. My companion had an aversion to fast food chains, with one exception. But we couldn't find the chain of choice and so reluctantly ended up at a Burger King. I remember that my Whopper came with perhaps the finest slice of tomato I had ever had. It was big, bigger than the roll, juicy and tasted like the tomatoes my next door neighbor grew when I was growing up (and not like a tomato that spent way too much time in an airplane to get to my sandwich). Almost certainly locally sourced but it remains a hard to achieve standard for a burger joint tomato.

Me too! I once brought the burger back up to the counter and asked "Would you want to eat this?"

I would have done just that had I not been 2 towns over upon the discovery of the tomato butt. I also remember years ago I went to a Whataburger (fast food burger joint for LTG’ers unfamiliar.) and asked for some ketchup for my dinner. Well I got everything BUT ketchup. I couldn’t help but laugh when I dug out a packet of syrup.

I’ll probably get shot for saying this in Texas but the burgers are fine. People around here act like the burgers are just short of being the second coming of Christ on a pogo stick when to me they’re just good. I thought Dairy Queen burgers was a little bit better though that could be a nostalgic bias.

I get them sometimes when I drive to Silver City NM. I do like the fries. And the burgers are ok.
