As I posted a week ago, I got a great blues 90 on Craigslist. As a lot of folks do, I swapped out the stock Seymours (very hot) for some more traditional pickups. I put in Seymour Duncan vintage 90's. It now sounds great. Anyhow ANOTHER great deal came up on Craigslist - a blonde Bluesbird. I couldn't pass it up, it just came today. Now I have to decide between the Blues 90 and the Bluesbird (I can't justify both, I have 6 other guitars!). At this point I'm leaning towards the Bluesbird, but not totally sure yet. The neck on the Bluesbird 'plays like butter'. Even though the Blues 90 sounds great, I really like the mellower SH-1 vibe on the 'bird. I tend to favor the 'BB King' sound over the 'George Thorogood' sound.
Interesting comparing the two guitars - weight is the same, size is the same, necks are quite different. Blues 90 is chunkier with no binding, heavier frets. The Bird has Grover tuners, the Blues 90 has Guild tuners (they look identical however). Can anyone tell me the year of serial # CL0001584?
Any feedback on which you would choose would be welcome.
I wish I knew how to insert some pictures!
