Hi, folks.

My way of lurking/ingratiating myself with guitar communities is this little game. So, what was your first chord of 2013, and which song? :)

For me, it was a D, as played in Handle with Care. (I think it might have been the same in 2012!)

Looking forward to reading about everybody else's!

I was able to play for a few hours today, and to be honest I forgot what the first chord was! My best guess is an Am, based on what song I *think* I played first...

I guess I should have done "Handle With Care" first - a great song to play!

Not really a chord, but when I picked up the bass this morning, the first note was the F# slide up to C# at the beginning of the Deads` "Estimated Prophet".. Full disclosure, It was on the Alembic, not one of the Guilds. :)

It was a G. I almost invariably start with a little bluegrassy stuff in G to warm my hands.

Whenever I pick up a guitar, the first thing I usually do is strum a G chord. So, that's probably the first chord for me this year.

Had a song in mind. Angel From Montgomery. First I had to find a guitar in standard tuning. Lucky it was the D65s. Then I played an E. Such an easy song. Three damn chords. E, A, D. The end. The Taylor is in open G right now.... and the Washburn is in CGDGCD, which is a pretty fun tuning I found for Shawn Colvins Orion In The Sky and it's also good for Van Morrisons Into The Mystic. I find more uses for that tuning all the time.

So to answer the question, it was E major in Standard Tuning.

Wow, glad to introduce you guys to that Moody Blues song. One of my favorite bands for sure.

Yeah, dm, I played "Angel From Mongomery" a couple times in the past two days. Gotta love that song.

Hey Joe, is that the "G demolished" chord you're playing there?

Like others on the forum I typically start with a G chord then noodle around a bit to warm up.

I wouldn't mind seeing a picture of your Alembic!
