Just bought another Guild, This one a beautiful D25 NT, vintage 1986. Had been watching it on Craigslist for a while, finally had to pull the trigger, like a mouse grabs the cheese. Glad to have a mahogany Guild in my collection. I can't believe the deals that are out there on Westerly Guilds. Got to keep an eye peeled!

Love those D25s!
I'm watching a bunch of Guilds right now and wonder which one is going to grab me. It's all about timing and I'm way overdue

Enjoy your new addition to the family,
Joe

A man's just gotta have a D-25 :D Congrats, and I'm interested how she stacks up against the D-18?

Congratulations. Those D-25's sure seem to have a strong following. I'd like to test drive one vs my D-35 some day.

I had a D18 a few years ago (wish I still had it!) and I have a D25 now. I don't know if my 'aural memory' is accurate enough to compare the two given the time span, but I do believe the D25 sounds better. Of course, I just might play better than I did then. :?:

Always something to ponder, but we do ponder, don't we?

Seize the carp du jour!

Congratulations on the D-25. I just picked up one on eBay - a 1978 M version. It's in very good shape. It has been set up with really low action and light strings. It plays really easy, but it doesn't have the booming sound I was expecting. Now I have to decide, do I give up the easy action for a bigger sound, or do I keep it as is? I play finger style mostly anyway.

Don't even mention the third option.

(I'm already gassing for a D-25 SB)

I hope you enjoy your guitar as much as I'm enjoying mine.

Poser,
I play fingerstyle as well and my D25 booms. I use mediums on it so maybe you can give them a try to see if therein lies the difference.
It's certainly your call as to action vs. sound, but I think you can/should have both!

Enjoy,
Joe

Thanks for the advice, killdeer. I'm having a lot of fun playing it now, so I'll probably wait on the string change.
But I may try some mediums after a while.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Congrats on the new old D25. They sure are great. Seems like one of the more popular models around here. I just recently got my new old D25 and play it quite a bit. Of course I don't have many to choose from in my herd. I have lights on mine now, but thinking to move up to mediums to see what I can get.

enjoy!

Congrats

I'm trying to find out some details about my D25C (C = cherry - it's red) I bought new in 1976 when I ordered it from a dealer. Serial is 111678 which seems to date it 1974 - but I swear I bought it in 1976 - new...
