That might be a mini hum from the 60s. It's hard to get a sense of it with the tape holding it in. Upon further reading (which I should do before I post here) that guitar reportedly was previously owned by Howard Roberts. I think the JD'Q he is known for playing has a gold HB1 as does his personal Sadowskiy.

The size looks like a mini humbucker to me. Do I see allen screw pole pieces at 3:17? Would be similar to the HB-1 Dave has: http://www.letstalkguild.com/ltg/showthread.php?181697-HB-1-s-what-the-heck-is-under-the-hood
