I've had no problem from GAS since acquiring my D25 about 2 years ago; however, today in a pawn shop I met a JF4NT,with dead strings and a pickup, for $395. Going by the Guild site's list, it appears to be 1990 - 1994(CG000***) I don't know if it comes with a case, as the help was either busy or uninterested in my buying potential(I strained to see a pair of vintage Gibsons behind the counter, but no offers of help).
I NEED $400!!!! Or, if anybody needs a JF4, I suppose we could work out a pick up & ship. :?:

That sounds like a steal. Plus, is there another 6-string mahogany jumbo? I'm not aware of one.

Give me a holler if no one pipes up.

In my mind, I'm scheming, but I know there's no way my (lack of) budget has room for an extra $400.

It was kind of stiff & tight, but I think it was the death of the strings that did it; I'd really like to try it with good strings.

I used to have the 12-string version of that guitar, and it was a monster. It has a laminated arched mahogany back, which makes it feel even bigger than it is. I bought mine used in 1997. I think mahogany jumbos are a great idea, and nobody seems to make one except Taylor and they are few and far between. Unfortunately, my 12-string got attacked by a garage door which resulted in a funky looking headstock repair, and I let it go to fund a GAS attack. I wish I had it back, munched headstock and all. Even with the repair, I sold it for what I had in it.

If it were me, I'd be scrounging up $400, in a heartbeat...

My main performance 6-string is a JF-4NT and likely as not, they'll bury me with it...it's a keeper! 8)

How's the neck and body? Any playability issues?
Aside from what I attributed before in the previous post to dead strings, it seemed okay; no bad scarring that I could see, & I turned it around a few times, checked the string clearance at 1 & 12, etc.
Looked good, Felt & sounded like potential with a string change.

+1 for the music section, and what is this bass with the dark stars, a modified ibanez?
edit: probably not, i was irritated by the headplate. the body looks more like a yamaha bb,but it is NOT.

Not sure which model, but it's a Lakland...VERY nice bass w/ a hefty price tag, too...my partner-in-musical-crimes has 4 or 5 different Laklands. 8)

Stopped by the pawn shop & looked at the JF4 again today;noticed it's more beat up than I thought. Met GatorGuild there, & he looked it over good & declared it needs more done to the neck than it's worth, & he has a shop & works on these things, so I guess he knows. Oh well. Think I'm going to have him look at my D25 & see about maybe a set up.

Yeah, they're pretty nice...the one he's playing in the picture, strung w/ Thomastik(sp?) flatwounds, really compliment to sound of an acoustic guitar.

Here's another of his Laklands, a 5-string:

Hey squirrel - be honest, It needs alot of work - to say the neck is concave is an understatement, about 3/4" at the 12th fret. Frets at the tongue are like a rollercoater, and the fretboard is separating from the top ever so slightly. A neck reset is in the distant future as well. Put $300 of work into it and it's still without a case. It's definitely a project, but at $400 it's sure tempting. :)

Puts it right in the neighborhood of the prices I saw at Harmony Central's reviews!
