I don't know what happened, I was going about my life happy as could be, and all of a sudden I stumbled upon a Guild guitar. GAS was raging it's ugly head bad but it should be almost gone in a day or two.

Here's number one I picked up recently:

'73 Guild T100D

Here's the '58! Heavily modded....did I get ripped off? I landed it for around a grand. I figured just for the instrument quality alone it's worth the $1,000.

PS - Sorry for the ugly deck....it will be refinished this fall.

We've all been there before. Just try and relax, and start working on scenarios to explain why you're buying all these guitars, and in no time, you'll be piling them up and feeling good about it.

That T100 is beyond hot btw....

Thank you all, I'm excited! She's in great shape too!

So, any tips with intonation? Two strings are a tish sharp sadly.

+ 1 - I stumbled across my first Guild less than 18 months ago & now I have 9!

Great looking T100!! Look forward to more pics when the other one arrives.

Don't mean to hog the thread but will a tuneomatic line up with the original Guild bridge posts? I've been thinking about a tuneomatic for one of my X170's and for ever and always keep the original with the case

Now I'm curious.

How simple is it to fix intonation on the original bridge? Who knows the string are so old it could just be terrible strings, but I hate to throw on a new set of strings to find out I need to replace the bridge ha.

You don't need to sacrifice a new set of strings when changing bridges . The whole bridge can easily be removed
by string slackening . Are the B and E sharp ? Just slant the bridge . Intonation on Low E and A are far less
noticable than the plains ; correct the higher pitch , it's more noticable up the neck.
How's clearance over the frets with that rosewood lump ?

http://www.stewmac.com/shop/Bridges,_ta ... ridge.html

These are good , require no file work and with string spacing adjustment too . Available with pin or body fixing.

P.S. Is that a 3+3 or 4+2 bridge cut ?

Oddly enough it's the G string that's really bad, and a little bit on the A or G string...I forgot already haha.

Kinda makes me think a new set of strings might fix it but maybe not. I hate to have to replace the bridge on her if I don't have to!

If not those schallers look solid, easy enough to replace.

When I moved to Thomastik Infeld ( equi-tension sets ) from Chromes ( standard diameter increases ) , the standard 4+2 wood bridges didn't
intonate because string lengths were now similar . The stark-stepped set-up required only a slightly angled straight line array in TI Swings.
If you Solo , get a adjustable bridge .

Definitely you need new strings first. They should not be older than 2 or 3 month depending how often you play.
I don't think you have to replace the bridge, it's just likely not perfectly positioned yet.
You also realize that this wooden bridge needs a set of strings with a wound G string?
I am using two pictures of bigsby bridges from Hans Moust's webpage here to demonstrate the difference:

Left side picture: Vintage style intonated for wound G string: Right side picture: More modern style for plain G string:

Ahh! I would have thrown on a pair of strings with an unwound G string! But now that I say that....don't most flatwound sets of strings have a wound G string anyways? I know some pairs have a roundwound G string but I'm not sure.

I don't know what to through on first, flats or rounds. I've got a jazz gig next week and of course I want to play my new toy so she might get a set of rounds.

I threw on flatwounds on the '73 and WOW what tone...killer jazz tone but the best part is, I can use it for other styles much more so than you could a jazzbox. I LOVE this thing. I don't get the slim neck complaint, I think the neck is a nice shape.

So the action's just a tish high....may have to swap the bridge/saddles.
