I stuck a camera inside my D50 and took a couple of pics and the rosewood has a definite 'sheen' to it.... I don't know if this makes a difference or not but this is definitely one of the best sounding Guilds I have ever played...even sounding good next to a D-100.... ....so has anyone else noticed this on their guitar? Steffan
....also that is a pretty big chunk of rosewood block, is this standard? not the block, but the wood!

Seems like a number of Japanese guitars I've owned over the years (Yamaha comes to mind) have sprayed interiors. Not sure why some manufacturers would lacquer the interiors. To keep them from getting too damp or drying out, maybe?

But all "good" guitars I've come across, and all my Guilds, are bare wood, I'm pretty sure.

(Love those inside photos! I'd like to miniaturize myself and stroll around the insides of some of my guitars.)

While not a regular practice at Westerly production line to seal coat all of the inside -- more often done to undersides of tops -- it wasn't so unusual to have a guitar in the repair shop for a new top or back and its designated repairman would lightly seal coat (a polyurethane... gasp) the entire inside before reassembly. Thought by some to control sudden changes in humidity.
