From here.

Identified as a '68 and no reason to question that. Master volume seems to have been replaced and I'm not sure why the saddles look the color they do, but the interesting thing is what I presume is a reinterpertation of the headstock in response to the dreaded shrinking overlay.

Actually I'm still trying to wrap my mind around "which came first, the assembly or the serial number?".

In my defense the different backgrounds did not help me recognize the same bass. It may also be a serious lack of sleep over the last few days as well as constant exposure to a Pandora channel with an awful lot of 70's disco...

Some time ago the bass line from Chic's "Good Times" was on a list of the greatest bass lines. It was also credited as the inspiration for Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust". Somehow I missed Chic the first time around so I started listening and in Pandora's obvious way I realized that I had inadvertently created The Disco Channel. Curiously Pandora is now branching out to a bunch of bands I remember hearing of but not necessarily listening to back in the day.
