Interesting comment about Guilds

The fellow who just sold me the '93 D4 included a note inside the case. This was the best part of the note:

"I hope you enjoy this guitar, it sounds great. I really believe Guilds are a poor man's Martin, but I never knew why Martins are so much more expensive."

Just wanted to share this little tidbit, :wink:

Cute, but that comment seems to be about 50 years too late. If you look at current street prices, they are pretty much head to head. It seems like Guild finally caught up. Or did Martin slow down?

Edit: I mean new guitar prices with warranty.

First 200 Martin listings on quick eBay search go down to $2850, 200 Guilds go down to $1540. And there are many Martins over $10,000, no Guilds at all.

If you narrow your search to new guitars with warranty, you will notice they are eerily similar. The vintage/used guitar market is not a good representation of current day new guitar prices.
