Don't know if anyone noticed that I was gone but I have returned from a week of camping east of the Cascades, on the hot/dry side. Lots of highlights but an unexpected item topped the list.

The fish and wildlife crew set up this trap to try to snare the bear that was there the entire time that we were. I found bear scat every day on my early morning hikes. Adds a new bit of spice when you know that a bear is camping close by. :courage:

A dozen nice rainbows and wildlife aplenty, including this character.

Western Rattlesnake

He was slightly disabled on the roadside, so I did the right thing and put him out of his misery with a whack to the head.

*Birds will be found in the Geezer Manor.

Guilty! And I came back with some all-time "effing bird photos," too.
How are you, Tom? :courage:

Missed your photos and wit Joe. Welcome back. That snake is just how I like them, "in a photo", and even that gives me the creeps.

Sorry it took me a while to welcome you back, Joe. That last photo is a classic view down a U-shaped glacial valley. It's worthy of any intro geology textbook! :subdued:
