Back in Dec. 2008, I sort of dropped off this forum when I put my GAD jumbo up for sale. I figured without a Guild to talk about, there wasn't ... uh... much to talk about.

That was when I was also advised that a merger was going to make my job end. It actually lasted another year and now, almost a year into whatever this is, (The days I look for a job, I'm unemployed. The days I don't look, I'm retired), things are somewhat balanced while I look for a new career. All I know is, I'm going to be a great housewife in my next life... :D

The reason I have come back is simple. This morning, I bought another Guild, a GAD-25. I played one belonging to someone else about a month ago and was very impressed. My friend's guitar is a lot older than what I'll get, so it may have to grow a bit once I get it, but I anticipate great things from this one.

Compared to my OM's and 000's, this should be the opposite end of the spectrum, a good strummer and something to play loudly and disturb my totally deserving idiot neighbors.

Good to be back... Now, what ever happened to that Florida jam?

Hi Dennis and welcome back! There's nothing that says that a member has to own a Guild; it's nice if they can spell 'Guild' correctly but even that isn't a requirement.

The FlaJam never happened ... but we've got a couple of new So FL members; dapmdave and bluesypicky; Dave is up the coast in the Cocoa Beach area Bluesy's right here in Jupiter. Dr. Izza Plumber still winters in the Port Charlotte area, Mandosquirrel lives in the Naples/Ft Myers area, and I think we have a couple of on-again/off-agains who live south of the Lake.

I don't know if it'll be repeated but there was a good-size guitar show east of Kissimmee at the Turnpike in January of this year; several of FL-LTGers made it as well as Bill Ashton and Jeff Heard. Our member and used Guild dealer Jay Pilzer was there but his presence and collection of sweet Guilds wasn't quite enough to to offset the overwhelming number of LPs, Teles, Strats, PRSs, and so on.

Anyway, if they put it on again, it'd be a good center piece for rounding up LTGers. Welcome back!

Thank you all round...

It's good to be back. I tend to think of guitars as toys, so I get excited over a new one, but there is something about this one I'm almost overly excited about. For what I like in terms of volume and tone, it probably comes as close to a perfect guitar as anything I've played before. I'm hoping the one I receive is as good as the one my buddy has. I will be one SERIOUSLY happy camper if it is.

2 Day Air should get it here Thursday or Friday depending whether it ships tonight or tomorrow. Thank God the lawn doesn't need cutting. Nothing in the way to keep me from playing guitar all weekend.

Hi Dennis,
Welcome back and nice to see the Florida gang growing.
If you look at my 11:14am post on page 2 of this thread: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=22270&start=15
you'll understand why your professional situation rang a bell to me....
As Frosty put it "All too familiar".
Not a done deal for me yet, but I can smell the smoke....

Wow that sucks Bluesy. All the best to you, and needless to say we'll all be hoping for a good outcome here.

And welcome back Dennis. I've joined in the time you were gone, and have met a lot of nice people here. I don't think owning a Guild is a prerequisite either, but I've got no problem there.

Just got the shipping notice on the new GAD-25. I had hoped for it to ship yesterday so it might arrive Thursday or Friday, but it'll probably be Monday at this rate. So much for the cost of 2 day air, huh?

Hi Dennis
I have had a GAD 25nat for about a year now and love it....sounds geat recorded as well...good finger picker and strummer....very deep bottom and warm sounding...pretty well balanced. So far the strings that came on it have sounded the best to my ears....D'addario pb lights.
Looking forward to pictures and playing reports. :D

If mine turns out the way you describe yours, I will be really happy.

Last night, the shipping notice said "Exception" and I figured something had gone wrong. The last time I had that happen, it was some vegetable seeds for my son's farm in Jamaica and they were leaking out of the box that had been damaged by UPS.

This morning, the happy news is, my new Guild is scheduled to be delivered before noon tomorrow, so NGD at my house should be just in time for the weekend. Pictures and comments after that.

I love to experiment with strings and lately, I've been trying some Ernie Ball 12-54's with their coating like the Elixirs. I have them on 2 acoustics up to now and I'm not unhappy with them, but they aren't something that will immediately make you rush out and buy a ton in case they ever stop making them. I'll be happy to try the D'Addarios if that's what gave you the kind of tone you mentioned.

Everyone have a great weekend... that's an order!!!

Oh where, oh where is the big brown truck?
Oh where, oh where can he be?
I want my guitar and I want it here now
Gift wrapped and I want it for free!

Well, I'm just saying...

It's out for delivery and while the UPS truck usually passes my house by noon every day, needless to say, just because I'l looking for this delivery, it's nearly 2 PM and he hasn't been here yet. I swear, the holidays are the worst time to buy something you'll get excited about. Nothing comes as early as you want it.

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The UPS driver must have read my last post. He got here about 30 minutes later.

The guitar is here, it's nice, plays well, sounds good, though I need to change strings and this is going to be very useful. Lord knows, the tweed case with the antique bronze colored hardware is cool as all get out.

Something I didn't read in the specs was about the wood binding. Nice surprise.

Nice guitar....and love the fairly unique look!
I had mine out busking and it got some suprised looks when I played a few chords on it as if to say....did that tone just come out of that little brown guitar?
Enjoy! 8)

Look folks... I'm 6' 7" tall and weigh 280 lbs.
If my house is on fire and I can only save one guitar
I'll damn well save every one of them. Any questions?

No questions.........SIR! :| Steffan
