Ah yes, the "they'll never accept it ... and then they did" bid. I've got a few guitars that way.Congratulations. Looks like a beaut, and if you made a "they'll never accept it" bid, then you likely got it at a good price.

I did one of those a while back and ended up with a new F47R. Congrats and post some pics when it arrives.

Congrats on what appears to be a really sweet deal. Love those D40s; always yearned for a cutaway model. Someday, maybe...

Are you planning to bid on the D4 as well? Remember, one Guild is never enough!

I should... but I will honeymoon with the D40 for a while... and then cheat on it after that... Seriously though... This guitar should fulfill my acoustic needs for a while...

you know it's funny... I think back to all of the guitars I bought and I always revolve the epiphones/ibanezes/washburns ... But the guilds and gibsons (and one vintage fender strat) never make it out the door...

It's a beautiful guitar... :D

And probably well worth the needed repairs.

The sellers ONLY statement as to condition is: 'In good condition...."working man's" instrument,Sounds great!'...which would appear to any reasonable person to imply that the guitar is in good working PLAYABLE condition.

Then, there are the photos...complete with LARGE ARROWS...indicating otherwise...and covering the seller's posterior...he thinks. Hopefully he has an adjustment/return policy in effect, if he wants to keep his 100% positive rating...

Those pictures show a guitar needing, at the minimum, a probable neck reset to be made playable...and possible bracing/neckblock work as well...typical structural issues with older sharp cutaway models...note also that none of the photos indicate the action...the other cracks, including the top crack that he hasn't 'arrowed' are easily repairable.

Again, it is a beautiful instrument, and if you are happy with the price you paid and the cost of the repairs...then enjoy in good health.

I really hesitated before typing this...your joy is obvious...it's just that we are a bit of a protective LTG family here and I personally don't feel right about not mentioning the obvious...especially as no one else has done so...and while there is still time to remedy if needed.

Some of our members have adopted and restored some lovely old Guilds.

Good luck with this one if you choose to do so :D

I asked him over the phone about those cracks and he said the neck is solid and in no need of repair...
He also stated there is some fret wear....
Bottom line is there is a full refund (minus any shipping) if there is an issue...

I seriously doubt a music store is going to buy (or even sell) a guitar that is in need of a neck reset...

But you are correct in that it may be in need of a return for a refund...

EDIT:
I just got off the phone again with the guy and he re-assured me the neck is solid and is not in need of any repairs... I can only imagine that he is setting himself up for negative feedback if the neck needs a reset...

Well it arrived and I had my tech at Guitar Electronics in Phoenix take a look at it... Nothing wrong with the guitar at all ... Fret wear is minimal... Nowhere near a need for a neck reset... Action is nice and low ... No need for a refund.. I am keeping it !!

Well done, Glad it worked out and turned out to be 'better' than expected. Now all thats left is to.................enjoy!

What I was most surprised about was how low the action was and how little fret wear there was... I asked the seller why he let it go for such a low price and he said he just had it around for too long... The electronics in it are pretty bad.. But I already have a fishman soundhole I was going to put into it anyway... I am still pretty shocked how insignificant the fret wear is...

If Dennis says it's good, it's good :)

I used to take my guitars to him too, but finally gave up - he's in such high demand I had to wait two weeks for a setup. If you need quicker work, I would also highly recommend Chuck Cellino, who works out of Guitar Gallery in Scottsdale part time and his home shop the rest.

Actually it was Rob... It took about 30 seconds for him to determine if the neck/action/frets were ok... But then again, I am pretty experienced myself and I could have told him there was nothing wrong with the guitar anyway... Since a refund was possible it didn't hurt to have Rob take a quick look at it...
