... from a trip to a local Guitar Center. My bad - should have known better than to go in there on a Sunday. A young kid playing the intro to "Sweet Child of Mine" badly and loudly, and right next to him, an "adult" playing the "Smoke on the Water" riff badly and loudly (and over and over)!

I escaped to the acoustic room, where there were no Guilds, but played a nice (and expensive) spruce topped Taylor to try to get my brain unscrambled. It worked, then I got out of there as fast as possible.

Guitar Center is best when school is in session and you go before it lets out. You can still be surprised by obnoxious adults and random delinquents. Glad you made it out in one piece!! Taylor makes some nice guitars.

Agreed - it was my own fault for not going when it's quiet!

I played one of the redesigned 800-series Taylor's not too long ago and was impressed. In a GC, no less!!

Sounded even better through one of those Boss tower PA's.

I don't know whether I should feel fortunate or left out. I had to youtube Sweet Child of Mine to find out what it was, and I worked in a record store when Guns 'n' Roses were at their peak! Wasn't your typical record shop, though. 40% of our business was in classical music, and probably sold as much jazz as rock. Anyhow, listened to it and can see how it would be easy to butcher the intro. Hm, wonder how it would sound acoustically.

Which one did you go to, Berklee or Boylston? I was in the Boylston St. store last wed before the baseball game. Couldn't get over the number $299 and $399 guitars. Just wasting time.
