Ditto on the wow. That is one fine piece of quartered Sitka. Look at the silk all the way up and down that soundboard. Wow is right.

Given it's light color, I might've bet on Engelmann too!

I like the sound of Englemann, to my ear "creamier" than Sitka. I have a delightful ES/mahogany guitar (non-Guild) with thick-n-creamy trebles. The D-60, with that smooth piano-like tone, is a similar sound - in the end, it's how the guitar sounds that counts after all.

The 'burst on the D-60 is magical. Looks dark from one angle, and more red from straight on. I've posted this photo before, same guitar use in the video.

I know that Dana bursts some of his best sounding tops that might have a tiny imperfection or two in the wood. I'd imagine other builders do too. It'd be interesting to see the underside of yours Frosty...
