Did you read the article?

The ‘AT2022dsb tidal event’ can’t be photographed up-close with Hubble because the munched-up star is nearly 300 million light-years away. But astronomers used Hubble’s ultraviolet sensitivity to study the light from the shredded star—which include hydrogen, carbon, and more, all forensic clues to the black hole homicide.

Aren’t they saying now that the earths core is a rotating metal ball that reverses directions every 70 years? Didn’t it used to be said to be liquid magma?

No but Don read something about it changing rotation. So I question him.... but he only reads the headlines. I'm all, "WHAT ABOUT THE MAGMA???" And then we go out for beer and shots and we forget..... :p:LOL::ROFLMAO:

It is kind of amazing that we have less knowledge about our own planet than we do about deep space.

I wonder if "deep Earth" study will become a field someday analogous to deep space astronomy and get more attention. Hubble and James Webb, not to mention the huge radio telescope arrays, get all the attention while no one seems to care about deep Earth.

As a related aside, every movie I've seen about drilling through the Earth has been so flawed (physics-wise, etc.) that I can't stand to watch them. Meanwhile, good space travel shows (like "The Expanse," for example) are out there for sure. Of course, most space travel shows are flawed as well, but honestly which is more relevant to us?!

Today's New Atlas email included something about the earth's core:
