I got shot today

I hope the sheriff can be reasonable and just scare him. In urbanized Northern Virginia, discharging a BB gun, like discharging a firearm, is a misdemeanor unless you have 20 contiguous acres. I think there is legislation pending to be a little more rational in how BB guns are treated but I don't think it is law yet.

Glad you're all right, however.

When I was a kid, we used to shoot a BB gun at cans, plastic models, etc. for fun. My grandparents had one to shoot squirrels on the bird feeder, my brother got one for his birthday when he was around 12 years old, just to have as a "toy". Those were the days...

But - we never shot the neighbors!!!!

We lived in town and dad never allowed any of us 4 boys to own a BB gun. Smart man, he knew we'd be up to no good with it :lol:

Well I went and talked with the young man's dad today, let's just say I showed them some grace, and told them I hoped he learned a valuable lesson. Kids just do stupid things sometimes, he's lucky it wasn't more serious. The Sherriff's Deputy gave both of them a stern talking-to as well, told the dad how lucky he was that I didn't press charges.

Kid came over and apologized today. I forgave him, told him I hope he learned something and that we could still be good neighbors. Shook his hand. Deep inside I'm just an old softie; comes with age, I guess. :wink:

I guess it was either that, or give him a full body slam! Tell ya what Marc, I'll bet this experience leaves him a memory that will always be with him......that's a good thing.
