No, I have not had any issues at all. I hesitated to buy a room humidifier for that reason. I don't know much about it, but from what I have found online and in speaking with a neighbor who is an engineer and musician, both warm and cool mist humidifiers will leave a white residue, but this MoistAir unit is more specifically an evaporative humidifier. There is a wick that sits in and absorbs the water. A fan then blows the moisture into the air where it is disbursed through the house. There is no white dust that I have seen, it is easy to operate, and it seems to work very well. The only thing I would say is that at 30% to begin with yours would probably not kick the fan on nearly as frequently as mine does trying to battle 8%. As a result you may want to add an anti-bacterial agent to the water, which is recommended, in order to keep the water/air clean. I don't do that because my 12 gallon tank gets exhausted at least once each day during January and February. It's still very easy to fill as it takes two minutes before I go to bed and it's good until the next night. Now that it is getting into the mid 40's and above and the rains are here I only put one tank full of water in it at night (instead of 2) and whatever is left in the morning gets dumped out, and then I let the auto drying feature dry it out completely until I am ready to use it the next night.

btw... my neighbor uses a smaller version of the unit I have to humidify just his office. He keeps it on low, and he claims it works very well.
