Recently received a lovely little New Hartford-built instrument: 2010 GSR-F30 . . . I'll post pics in a separate thread when I have more free time (swamped with work right now).

Hey that's awesome! Congrats! We had a great time playing one at the factory tour. Beautiful guitars!

I think more than the appearance, it's the feel of Ebony that I like better. It feels noticeably harder to me, which makes for more confident fingering, for me at least.
Hey, I just read that last sentence, and it could have been lifted from Penthouse Forum.
Agreed, it IS harder, and more tightly grained. I think that's part of the "feel". AND that extra hardness has a little extra effect on tone in my opinion, and I suspect that's why it's pretty standard on the higher end Guilds. Or maybe it's just 'cause it'll help the neck stay straighter. Or both.
We'll just let you completely off the hook on that other matter. :D

What's wrong with owning a Porsche and a Guild?? :?:
Nothing really wrong with owning a Porsche, especially a nice vintage handler like yours, but you'll never able to say it's a WESTERLY Porsche!

As a former Porsche mechanic- 17 years -'72 to 89, I was hoping all of those had gone to the crusher....but( add guitar content) I wouldn't crush it if there was a Guild inside

Liked the styling, understand they were wicked handlers ( I'll take handling over raw horsepower any day)...but never had the experience of LIVING with one....I was a confirmed first generation RX-7 man for almost 20 years. THOSE are bullet-proof when they're stock. In fact, after 5 years of dominating their IMSA class, Porsche and Datsun told IMSA "if you don't give them RX-7's a weight penalty we're gonna take our toys (260/280z's and, ahem, 944's) and go home".... So the weight penalty was added, Mazda added turbocharging, and dominated AGAIN for 4 more years............ But them turbocharged cars on the street just weren't as much fun or as reliable as the simple little first gen cars..... :(
