It's under "profile" / "edit my avatar"... then "browse", (most likely resize to a max of 125x125), "open", and done! :D

I think I used "paint" to trim down my photo to use as an avatar.

How do you "resize?"

You have to import your pic into any image editing app. such as paint, Windows live photo gallery, Picassa, quick time viewer etc.....
It's pretty cut and dry, you will usually find a "Resize" button on the tool bar, which will give you the option to enter the desired format.

If you use a photo hosting site, like Photobucket, there's an easier way to upload an avatar. Just copy the link from your photo into the Upload from a URL option and then change the Avatar dimensions to 125 x 125. You don't even have to do it yourself, as long you have a link to a photo. I gave Mad Dog the link to a photo I downloaded that he uses for his avatar.

The only problem with doing it that way is that now I can't delete the photo because if I do, Mad Dog's avatar would disappear (which I would never do, so rest easy, MD).

Bill, I'm jealous. It just keeps coming up in red that the file size has to be between 0 and 20 KiB. I've manually typed in the file size and let it automaticaly size but no go. Oh well, the story of my life. This is why I've been relegated doing manual labor my whole life   !

The auto file size doesn't always work. Sometimes it works, but the image is distorted. Sometimes I can get an image to load from my computer, sometimes I have to use a hosting site. I don't know how this works as it isn't covered in Windows For Dummies, but if I play around for a while I can always get an avatar to load.
