If you remember, when I got my A-350, all the binding was in great shape for it’s age, except for the heel cap, which was crumbling, shrinking, and hanging on by a prayer.
Thanks to a another member on a FB luthier group who had a leftover chunk of material that he graciously sent me gratis, I finally got around to making a replacement. I added a number of coats of shellac to “age” it’s stark whiteness, so it looks like the rest (without the deterioration.) It even has a slight gap to replicate decades of off-gassing. (That’s my story, and I’m sticking with it!)
