Picked up an emerald Starfire IV, because the price was crazy low for a new axe w/ case & I've missed my ol' Westerly IV. Pretty nice axe, esp. for the dinero. I've noticed that it's got the interior sticker w/ model #, ser. no., & country of origin (Korea, of course), but there's no ser. no. on the back of the headstock.

Is that something new? I hadn't seen it before.

(BTW, great playing well-built axe, but in no way does it compare to my ol' Westerly IV, or for that matter my even older Korean Gretsch, which I still have. But it was cheaper than either. + it's a whole 'nother story)

I remember things that did not happen but I remember someone posting that circa early 2015 and beyond, Newark Street instruments only had a serial number on a label and nothing on the headstock. That makes sense at least if the New Hartford practice of only using a label made sense. I'd rather not restart that debate ;-)

That was changed when CMG took over the line from FMIC. It's how CMG has their Cordoba brand guitars marked and they applied the same kind of scheme to Guild I think.
