Has anyone played a Newark SF VI?

Does it look bigger to you? Or is that fella a smidgly? The other guitars look much smaller. I was wondering what the lower bout measures?

My local guitar emporium no longer carries new Guild electrics (in fact they've cut back on new electrics across the board…acoustics are just selling better), else I'd be happy to go for a spin on an ST VI. Seems like a no easy solution situation…

Looks like Sweetwater is sold out of the natural ones but had an exclusive built red SF VI
just for the store -- still in stock.

Bought my SF III from Sweetwater. Very happy w/the transaction. Joe Schafer was my sales guy.
Really went the extra mile. They forgot to put a foot pedal I ordered. I wrote it off to a bad experience.
He didn't. He sent me one overnight free.

So I've got an amp purchase an a synth purchase coming up. He'll get both.

Anyone else notice it's got a Chesterfield headstock inlay? Shouldn't it have a G-shield headstock if it's a VI?

Not the New Newark Street versions. The Korean made SF-VI's all have the Chesterfield Logos, no "G" shields.

Have not played the SF-VI. On the V-The sound shimmers. It's EXACTLY the sound I aspire to create on my guitar tracks.
Clean, quiet, pristine and warm. That's a difficult combination to arrive at. L:congratulatory:VE the white too!
Apparently the cherry-red ones were made specifically for Sweetheart.

I'll be overjoyed if my NS/SF III sounds half this good.

I have been eyeballing one of the red VIs online that happens to be on sale this weekend for $1199. After a $400 credit I have at the place, that basically makes it $800 for me.

I have yet to put my hands on a Newark Street series, but have owned more USA Guilds over the years than I can count. I'm not expecting an import line to compare to the USA models I've owned, but in general how have they been received by those who own/have owned both? I too read the big thread on the MB-1 pickup issue a year or so back, so I am somewhat apprehensive. Did that pickup "issue" ever get resolved?

If it was $999 I could afford to check it out and not feel too bad if I hated it. $1199 is a hair out of my comfort level for weekend "boredom buying".

$800 makes this a "no-brainer"

My new T-bird (S-200) is as good a guitar as any of my other Guilds. We'll see how it holds up over time, but I don't forsee any issues related to where it was made.

IMO the LB-1 "issue" is only a thing if you pay more attention to the specs than the sound. Or if you have a certain bridge pickup sound that you expect to hear based on prior experience with original anti-hums. The reissue pickup is a bit broader & janglier sounding, less mid-focused, than many/most (not all) oldies. In my T-bird I think it sounds terrific. But then I'm a huge jangle lover.
