Unless you're from Baltimore or SF, this one is a real yawner. 8)
But that's OK, because I'll have it on in my office as background while I catch up on a few odds and ends.

*I'll be sure to hit the MUTE button for the halftime....which I can barely understand. :?

But that's just me,
Joe

I don't have a dog in that fight but I don't see how they got a raw deal. Lots of of sports franchises have moved. It's a business and if an owner is not making money in a given town, they start looking around. What I read about Modell, he turned the Browns back into winners and lost millions in his last years in Cleveland. He was also known to give to and promote major charity operations for Cleveland. There are small market franchises that support their teams very well. Thee NFL made a deal with Modell to leave the team name and he moved on.

Hear, hear!
It's the way of big business....nothing personal, but it's always taken that way, it seems.
But hey, it's my business, I can do whatever I want/need to do.
Oh yeah, thanks for the memories!

Just sayin',
Joe

The current conspiracy theory is that it was either a Saints fan, or some of the Saints themselves (!) cutting the line, to get back at Roger Goodell for destroying the Saints chances this year.

Gotta love it!

Love a good conspiracy theory, and that's as good as any I've heard!

Back to the Browns-to-Baltimore discussion for a moment, I think the thing that makes fans the maddest is when the owners can't strong-arm taxpayers into a publicly-funded playhouse, they leave and, inevitably the league execs complain about the market not supporting the team .... for a few years, and then, voila, an expansion team appears in the vacated market amid much fanfare and a new publicly-funded playhouse that was needed to "lure" a new team in.

At least Cleveland officials had the smarts to demand that the nickname and the colors stay with Cleveland, something that worked out oh so conveniently when the jilted Cleveland was awarded an expansion franchise. All this manuevering just makes me, a Vikings fan, want to do something I never thought I would do ... say "thank goodness for the (publicly-owned) Green Bay Packers!"

The other thing I want to add is that the Indianapolis franchise should be swapped, nicknames and all, with the new Cleveland Browns, so that when you looked in the respective media guides, Baltimore's leading rusher would be ... Jim Brown, and a lot of the Brown's passing records would be held by ... Johnny Unitas. Think about how ironic that would be.

NO joy here in Mudville today, but I have to say honestly, when I heard the beginning of the halftime show, Beyonce sounded like she was channeling a certain Ms. Janis Joplin.
NOT a bad thing.
Then I came out of the kitchen to where I could see the TV again and was dragged back down to another overhyped production number.
And we didn't even get a wardrobe malfunction.

Not much chance of a wardrobe malfunction when she was wearing some sort of body sock under the costume. Don't know exactly why but Beyond C came across as attempting to channel Tina Turner, the power outage was nearly as interesting. Maybe I'm just too old but I'd rather have watched Tina.

I'm not sure what it says about us or the show but I noticed that as well and now, less than 48 hours after the show, that little fact is all I remember about the halftime show except a fleeting impression that the bassist and drummer were female and the former played a five string.
