Thats a CE-100.......

So nice to see and hear.......once I thought I was somehow obliged to play and own a '56 ES-175 but my CE-100's of the same era already had everything I like so I passed it on....

Can't for the life of me understand why these haven't gotten more respect!

headstock clearly looks Gibson-esque but says Guild.

Nice video!

Back in the day (the 50's mostly) the headstocks were basically the same shape as the Gibson guitars.

It took me a while to see it, but on minute 2:16-2:20 the typical "lip top" headstock is clearly visible. Also visible the "simple plain G" headstock veneer and the individual Waverly tuners as described in Hans book on page 59 for the Capri CE-100.
So it seems to be a 1956 or early 1957 model (my best guess) since Hans wrote that in 1957 the "Chesterfield" inlay was introduced on that model.
Interesting detail how he has taped the f-holes to close them. (Around minute 1:30-1:45)
At minute 3:45 you see the black stove knobs that were used between 1956 and 1959. (Hans book page 35).
Cool to identify those guitars from such old videos.

I recently played a '57 that would've looked like this 50 years ago. Same headstock & logo.

Why he would tape up the f-holes? Shouldn't be a feedback issue, since there's a center block on the SF...

Great link by the way!

Apparently from the comments on the YouTube, it's Nathan Page.

My bad! I found it with the Jimmy Smith Trio when I did a search for Eddie McFadden and I made an assumption without reading the text. Hey, maybe it was Jimmy Smith that loved the Guilds and would only hire guitarists that played Guilds!?
