Guild Pilot with tremolo - really???

A tremolo for bass sounds like a good idea on paper.
But I am thinking that using one would destabilize the tuning?
I know typically basses don't go out of tune that easy but I suspect a tremolo would be a bitch to keep a bass in tune.

Yep, it was the '80s and people did some really dumb things...

Now, if I recall correctly, Jerry Peek who played on Steve Morse's first solo album used one to emulate fretless bass on a few things.
