I'm looking for one, and trying to figure out the models I should be looking for!

By mini-jumbo I mean full depth and 16" lower bout, with the "pinched waist" and no cutaway.

Here are the models that come to mind... any others?

GF-60R
GV-52
F-46
F-47R
GF-55
GV-70
GV-72
CV-1

Am I missing any?

Thanks!

I'm not sure about all those models, but I wouldn't think that the Contemporary series (CV-1) would fit the bill. As I recall, those are F-30 or F-40 based. But, I'm not sure.

Also, I thought the F-47 models were 17" lower bout dreadnaughts. I don't have Hans' book handy to look that one up.

Good luck in the hunt.

Thanks Chaz... my mistake. I thought the CV-1's were F-40 based. I'm probably wrong here, but I thought F-40's were bigger than the F-30's, but maybe that is just in the lower bout and not depth?

And, with all things Guild, it depends upon the era!

Hey Tristan!

GF-50.... yeah!

The F-30R is more of a 000 sized guitar-- or at least the one that I had briefly. It had 000 depth at least. Maybe they made them at a deeper width? The F-112 that I had was like that-- a perfect guitar size.

F40's have more body depth than F30's, almost as deep as a dread as I recall. Not sure what the lower bout dimension is.

F30s are (for the most part) 15" +/- at the lower bout, basically OM/OOO width and depth.

While I do love F30s, it is my personal opinion that the F40/16" mini-jumbo is the ideal size/shape. They're fairly large, but not uncomfortabely so. And great for strumming and finger picking alike.

This one's not too bad either. My 1991 GF-55.

What's the lower bout on that beastie, blue liz? It looks just like an F-50R (JF-55) to me, but that would be 17".

Just cut to the chase and find a GF60-R. It's the one.

I know, I know... but there are the budgetary restraints-- I'm trying to stay this side of $1000! That model really is the Cadillac of Guild mini-jumbos, for sure.

That might be tough even in this economy for any rosewood Guild mini jumbo...
