I have th Guild feed loaded into my computer for the Reverb site. Has anyone else noticed that when you query Guild the vast majority of what you see on the 1st few pages/the newer listings, are the import models, lately especially the 2512 12 string. I see very few Westerly, Hoboken, New Hartford etc. Guilds and have to go pretty deep to get to them. I actually asked Reverb if they've changed their display process but they swear they have not.

Nothing against the imports, I've played some fine ones. But my heart is with the USA Guilds and they just don't seem to pop like they used to. Don't know if it's a flood of the imports or a scarcity of the USA models. (or hell, maybe I'm just imagining all this-that's been known to happen before)

I've noticed quite a bit of strange search result wackiness with Reverb. Whenever I look within my feed, and then hone in on one of the searches using the Customize Feed parameters, I get far fewer results than doing that search from the initial splash page. Most of the inconsistencies I see are related to My Feed. It doesn't seem to return all the listings I get when using the general search.

But to your point -- it wouldn't surprise me if the Reverb search algorithms cater more strongly towards returning new products over used items. I seem to experience the same things in eBay.

You have to be constantly searching Guild in the search box to find anything like that. But even then is still the imports on my end. I don’t have anything against imports either as I have a Japanese Yamaki that’s in heavy rotation along with my Guild D-35. Just like to collect the USA ones. Would like a Tacoma Guild but those have been getting harder to find

Honestly, I think it just underscores the extent of the Asian Guild models, and how they've largely taken over the brand. In a perfect world, they'd still be called Madeiras.

I've noticed changes in the way Reverb's search function works too. In the past if I searched for a model that wasn't currently being offered for sale, I could then also look it up under "sold" items.

That function seems not to work anymore. Instead it redirects you to "similar" guitars.

You can still get to the "sold" items by Googling the model you're intersted in, but it adds an additional step or two to the process.

True in many cases. However, I think all the Madeira's may have had laminate back and sides. The 5 or 6 I owned did. Many of the current imports do as well. But there are also several with solid wood back and sides (like my D 1212 E which is actually quite nice). I still am curious to try the all solid wood F-1512 Rosewood 12 string at some point.

Try searching from highest to lowest price? The USA makes and vintage models are usually the more expensive ones.

I refine it by selecting the decade. Then you can focus on each era.

Assuming no money is changing hands to influence the order of search result presentation, Reverb certainly needs to keep tweaking the order so that searchers buy and make sellers happy.

This doesn't seem new to me. Guild changed or reused model numbers. Sellers don't always understand, or choose to list, the details that we often care about, such as factory or country of origin. When GADs were new I had fits trying to find comparables for a Westerly D50. Don't get me started about looking for Starfire basses at a time when there was a line of brand new guitars called Starfire. Many seller did not even mention the instrument was a Guild Starfire because the term was iconic. Kind of like someone who just lists a Les Paul and leaves out the G word.

That drives me CRAZY.

Click "All Filters", then scroll down in the sidebar and choose "Sold Listings". It works, but note the limitation above.

That's the way it used to work, but doesn't anymore -- at least not for me.

Now, if I put in "Guild DV72" for instance, I get the message "showing no results for guild dv72," but the "All Filters" function is no longer there. There is no sidebar.

If I put in "Guild D25," for which there are examples for sale, then I can also search "Sold Items" via the Sidebar.

This is a change from the way it used to work.

I think all the Madeiras had laminate sides and back as well, but at least there was an easy way to discern where the guitars originated. Maybe use "Madeira" for the laminate imports, and "DeArmond by Guild" for the solid wood imports?

Of course, it's all way too late for that anyway. I've always believed that saturating the line with import models cheapens the brand, and I still believe that.

Well, you could sort by "Price High to Low" and pretty well insure you'll see the U.S. models first. 😁

It looks like the problem is the "no matches found" page. Try this:

Search for Guild. On THAT result page, you should find this:

Click on "All Filters" and you should get the filters on the left side.

In the filters sidebar enter DV72 in the search box:

Scroll down within that sidebar and click "Sold Listings":

Ta-da:

Actually the site is wonky as hell and I had to click on sold and THEN type in DV72. And it still doesn't find them all.

Easier to just type site:reverb.com DV72 into google.

Also like for us Europeans it depends what your standard currency and standard shipping region is on the bottom of the pages! For instance I always get "Germany" and "Euros" and it will not show a lot of listings. So I always switch to "worldwide" (actually called "Everywhere else") and US$.
