Hello tanquiano,Hi, somewhere in this forum I found the answer to my question, but unfortunately, I can't find it now. I have an extremely beautiful Guild JF30, and I believe it is from 2000. But it doesn't appear in the Guild Westerly datings, and is written inside as J30 instead of JF30. Any ideas? Here are some fotos. It is a beautiful guitar in perfect shape.
Man, I will NEVER make any more (false) assumptions about the beyond-end-of-table Westerly serials, Hans. Thanks for shedding light on that. I saw the 2450 at the end of that serial and thought "wow that must be a later one than a 2000" Sigh. Hans is da' man!Hello tanquiano,
Welcome! Your guitar is a legitimate Guild JF-30 Bld. that was completed during the year 1998. The J30 model designation was the in-house model name that for some reason ended up on the label quite often during that particular period.
Sincerely,
Hans Moust

I'm not convinced that the black pickguard is original on that guitar. However, it could be possible, but it would be very unusual!I like that they went back to a black Pickguard on this one. I like black on my 1998 JF65, it’s refreshing.
?? I don't understand the question, E-type. Anyway, good luck.I just put an offer on a 1996 JF30! Any reason to care which year it was made?
I know your post is from last year, but just wanted to mention, my Corona JF30-12 from 2002 is CTT000137. I remember "137" because....I just purchased a JF30-12 from an original owner, which he never played it. I have the original purchase receipt from the music store, from March 2005. It was the last new one out of the box at the store. He didn’t know what the actual year was. Maybe end of 2003 at the end of US production for the JF30? I have everything that came with the guitar including a 2003 Guild catalog with that guitar in it. SN CTT000526. It has a Fishman matrix pickup. And it seems the later JF30-12s had mahogany necks in lieu of maple. 2003 catalog has three piece mah/ma/mah
I'd say not in the slightest. (You sure it's a 1996 and not a 2000? )I just put an offer on a 1996 JF30! Any reason to care which year it was made?
Cougs, you crack me up. You're almost as bad as dreadnut used to be about his beloved D-25. And, yes, it *is* very special...It's also a very special JF30-12.
Yeah, that's the question. I have no idea which year it is. I bet the seller never even looked at the neck block, why would you? Is there any way to tell from the pics? Gold tuners and a reddish pick guard.I'd say not in the slightest. (You sure it's a 1996 and not a 2000? )
Oh, because it could be a ‘96 or a ‘00. There are all sorts of changes to Guild models that happened (eg types of bracing). Just wondering if there is any reason to care which year it was made.?? I don't understand the question, E-type. Anyway, good luck.
I don’t think so. I’ve had a 2002, still have a 94 and a 96. All with pickups. They are all big and great sounding workhorses, especially if you gig. Though the neck profiles are slightly different on all three, it’s not enough to throw you off.Oh, because it could be a ‘96 or a ‘00. Are the necks all 1-11/16” and between med c and med d? That all works for me. My only fear is getting one that’s too much of a baseball bat. I love the necks on my D-25s, but they are each from the early 70s.I don’t think so. I’ve had a 2002, still have a 94 and a 96. All with pickups. That particular JF30 is from the year 1996.I have no idea which year it is. I bet the seller never even looked at the neck block, why would you? Is there any way to tell from the pics? Gold tuners and a reddish pick guard.
Thank you, Chazmo... I joined a year and a half ago, but found the answer to my question before posting. My username was, and is, Tanquiano. I have checked the neck block, and yes, Hans is correct... the date is August 21st 1998.Hello, tanquiano.
That serial number is rather higher than some of the other year 2000 JF-30s, which indicates that it was built after them. But if you look inside the guitar, see if there is a date printed on the neck block. I'm guessing that it is from 2001, but I do not know that for sure.
Hopefully, @hansmoust will see your post here and provide a definitive answer from the Westerly ledgers.
Welcome aboard. By the way, were you formerly a member here? And, if so, what was your username? The reason I ask is that this is showing up as your first post after joining a year and a half ago.
You probably meant to write August 21, 1996!... the date is August 21st 1998.
