Many years ago I had a late 60's vintage Starfire III, which I foolishly sold. That guitar came standard with Guild EA-610 strings. Those strings felt very smooth and had a rich sound. Guild no longer markets those strings, and I really doubt that Guild actually manufactured them. I would like to find the equivalent of those strings to put on my Fender Strat. Does anybody know who originally manufactured the Guild EA-610's? What gauge were they? It's been many years since I had them, but I do recall that the G string was wound. What brand would be the equivalent of them today?

I'm not a 'leccie guy, but for quite a while D'Addario supplied acoustic strings. Might be worth taking a look at them. Also, member JTE was a retail dealer for a while, he might have some ideas, try sending him a "Private Message".
And hey, by the way, I see a first post, Welcome Aboard!

Thanks for the welcome. Even though I no longer own a Guild, I still have a soft spot for the brand after owning the Starfire.

Early Guild EA-610's were labeled as "Flat wound chrome steel" strings. (Hence the "smoothness") The later ones are labeled "Stainless steel".

EA-610SL were Super-Lights and had a plain G-string. They were .009's.

The EA-610L (Light-.011) and the EA-610M (Medium-.013) have a wound G.

D'Addario flat wound strings range from .010 to .013.

Grot,

Thanks for the reply, I'll have to try out the D'Addario strings that you mentioned. By the way, I checked out your website...nice collection!
