So let's see, beige binding, gold closed tuners, not to mention an incredible and unique honey colored high gloss finish......man! I see several differences between the D25 and D26. By the way, beige binding is my favorite binding color.

Hello Nigel,

It's from 1995.

Thanks as always, Hans!!

Sorry Nigel, the date printed inside is Feb 24 1995. It appears to be number 8 of 458 D26s made in 1995.

no sweat, john.

Is that a flat back guitar?? I believe D-25's of that era were no longer arch backed and would assume that is the case with your d26, as well.

Nigel,

Its an arched back, just like th D25. No bracing on the back at all.

Someone correct me here if I'm wrong but doesn't the D25 have a mahogany top? It seems to be the same color as the back and sides.

This D26 has a spruce top

Early D-25s were all mahogany with flat backs. Starting ~'73-74, they had stained spruce tops and arched mahogany backs. During the transition, there were some all mahogany arched back D-25s made. I believe they transitioned back to flat backs (and later to mahogany tops? or did they stay with spruce?) either later in the Westerly years or at Corona... but don't know the details there...
