After seeing and playing my D25 my friend is trying to buy one for himself. He found one on the local Craig's list and met the owner to look at it. Turns out that it's not a D25 at all. It's a D21M and has a serial # 1336XX. The Guild site indicates that it was made in 1976 but gives no model info. My friend likes the guitar but is leary of the guitar because it was misrepresented.

Is anyone familiar with the D21 and is it valued similar to the D25?

The only D21 (or D-21) I have ever heard of is a Martin, not a Guild. Is he sure its a Guild, or that it isn't a D-25?

He assures me that it says "D21M" on the label in the sound hole. It has an arched back and is dark like my D25. The Guild site offers no model info for this year model. The serial number indicates that it was built in'76. I can't find any reference to a D21 on the internet. Is it possible that it's a very rare guitar?

Thanks for your input,

John

Some of those hand-written Guild labels can be kind of hard to read.

I remember seeing a D25 for sale recently and the picture taken of the label looked like D21 was written, but I could see how it could have actually been a d25...the 5 was written too hastily and looked a lot like a 1... :?

You are correct Dave. He took a second look at the label and still thinks it lookss like a 21 but D25 is stamped into the headstock near the serial number.

Thanks for you help. I'll check it out myself before I bother you gentlemen again.
