Okay, I described it earlier, but here are the pics. I couldn't find any dings, marks, scratches to show. I'd have to say near mint condition. Multiple binding on head and body has 3 cream and two black layers. Pearloid G-shield. Serial number is FA000018...number 18 of 97 ever made. Maple neck has a beautiful tiger stripe. OHS black case with black plush lining, G-Shield and peaked GUILD logo on the case.

Fat guy reflected in the high gloss finish is NOT included. More pics can be taken...I just realized I didn't take one of the entire front.

Still asking $1200 plus shipping. Might (emphasize might) consider a lesser model acoustic Guild plus cash, but leaning more to all cash.

Hi count,

Very nice looking Crossroad. In the past I owned a blond one and a deep red colored Crossroad. This is the first time I am seeing a black one. Very sharp.

On both of the Crossroads I owned the electronics were a little different. The Blond had a passive SD pickup that ran into a seperate preamp that went into the Fishman. I think it was one of the first of the Crossroad models. The electronics were very unusual for a Crossroad but it all looked origional. The "red" one is similar to your black model. I found the neck pickup didn't have much upper tone that may have been a problem with the electronics. How would you describe the tone of the neck pickup on your guitar?

I appreciate your earlier reference on the versatility of the Crossroad for playing songs by 'Tull and Yes.

Hey Mat--everyone I've seen has the EMG dual pickup. I think the tone of both pickups in the emg package is pretty good, although not as big and thick as a comparable strat neck pup or lp neck pup. Like most guitars that try to do everything (say a Parker or a Godin LGX) it has compromises that keep it from being a great one trick pony. I never liked the Parkers I tried, but I had a godin that I liked a lot more for the electronic side, but was no where near as good on the acoustic side, which I think is due to the Crossroads having a hollow body and a string-through top acoustic saddle design versus the godin which was a slab.

I think I do have a buyer, but I need to pm him next to make sure.

As for the tull and yes references, they were the first things to come to mind when I tried to think of songs we all remember that have the big acoustic and electric parts. Maybe I should have mentioned some song about a stairway as well..

Hi Count,

The Crossroads design has always intrigued me - though sorry, I'm not in the market for one. But out of curiosity - does yours have the lead weights in the lower bouts?

Lead weights!?! Not that I ever noticed, but I'll check it next time I take out the battery.

Hey hideglue,

What do you ever plan to do with your pair of Crossroad bodies? I once saw a beauty of a "Crossroad" that was set up as a dual pickup electric. If my memory serves me correctly it also has a Guild "harp" stop. I never found out if it also contained Fishman electronics as it popped up on eBay by a dealer who then terminated the auction within a day. I figured it was bought off-line.

Tracking down a loose Crossroad neck would be tough but that neck of a Crossroad is quite attractive with the extra head binding and curly maple neck. If I recall the Crossroad has a Fenderish 25.5 inch long scale neck.

matsickma,

You're telling me. I originally planned on using a stray Tele neck, but quickly realised the neck pocket is far too deep. Duh.

YEah, it is a 25 1/2" scale neck. It is one of the very few (if not only) bound G-shield heads that has an unbound dot marker neck, kind of the opposite of a "setzer" bluesbird I used to have, that had an ugly spade-shaped pointy screened head but a beautifully bound ebony fretboard with the block and triangle inlays.

I think the deluxe head and simple neck does have an understated elegance to it.
