I think you make a guitar what you want it to be for you. As long as you do a nice job, I see nothing wrong with installing a pickup, adding a pickup, changing tuners or whatever. Not like you are turning a stradivarious into a ukelele. It needs to be something you are satisfied with not somebody else.

Well, I dunno about humbuckers anymore, though... I found this noiseless P90 pickup by Kinman, and I really like the sound of it. With P90, at least, I know for sure it wouldn't damage any bracing.

Hey Wolf... don't give up on installing a mini-humbucker. It will give you another tonal option in your arsenal. I don't think that cutting a notch in the braces up near the neck block will compromise the structural integrity of the instrument. But others hereabouts on LTG may have a different opinion.

One thing I am impressed with about the Guild A-50 is that even though it is a laminate top, Guild went to the trouble of attaching an elevated fretboard extension out over the soundboard. Classy! The comparable Gibson models (L-50, L-48) have the fretboard extension glued to the top of the archtop guitar, with the neck attached at an awkward angle. I think that the Cordoba A-50 could be a great "converted" electric guitar.

Good luck whatever you do, after giving it a shot at staying original you deserve complete satisfaction.

Ok, second try was a charm, and it's still A50, and is going to stay that way! The RI Dearmond is better than I could ever imagined!

One of, if not the best floating pickup ever made. It seems to be neck and neck with the Charlie Christian pickup to many.

Thanks guys! I only wish they made in chrome or nickel available too, but its not a big deal to me. Yeah, I'm very surprised how good it sounds, very balanced tone, warm and clean somehow. A keeper!

I think someone had posted a tutorial or steps for taking the gold off of a Bigsby...perhaps you can try the same with the pickup? :)

Have you double checked the grounding?

Another option would be to "gold plate" the harp tailpiece, the pickguard bracket and the tuning machine buttons. Gold finished hardware on that guitar, with the beautiful "Blonde" top, would look pretty sharp!
