Thanks for that. A 412?

Yep. Either that or a JF-65 12 (same thing). Definitely not a 512 because you can see it has an arched maple back.

The player himself says it's an F512, and he has named it, "the Queen."
If you scroll down from the video, you'll see the notes.

He's wrong, Joe. No question that's a maple back.

edit: Now that I think about it, I think it's possible that model names might've been messed up in the early '70s... Possible... Hans might've mentioned something like that to me, but then again senility has definitely set in. :)

In any case, this is *equivalent* to a modern-day F-412. No question of that. :)

Yeah, I can see the maple back, but I just went with what the guy said, hoping someone here would come by to enlighten us....and sure enough!

What a great forum this is!!

Interesting. I'd assumed it was a 412 because of the maple back. I didn't realize that the designation for a fancy maple back 12 string might have differed at some point. I agree, though, that this one is what we'd think of as a 412 using the present nomenclature.

Sounds like a great opportunity for Hans to drop by and make a definitive ruling.
Different year/different model #, or could the player possibly NOT know the model # of the guitar he was playing?

*Time for the Guild detectives to leap into action! :!:

This is great!
I just went to the link and in the comments section, someone (an LTG'er perhaps?) has already corrected the model # to be an F412, and goes on to explain why it is.

Is this fun or what?

Stay tuned,
Joe

Is that guitar missing the high "G" string, or am I seeing things? (Or not seeing things, as the case may be....)

Hi Joe; we can all unload now ... one of the people commenting on the vid is one of our own correcting the vid-doer of the model #. If correct, calling it an F512 is a miss wide right ... or left .... :)

I'll be interested to see if the player picks up on the comment.
Then I'll have to wonder why he doesn't know what he has, especially since it's a wonderful guitar.

You would think....?

Yes; I would think. Must be either a typo (4 is next to the 5) or a Freudian lady's undergarment.

That neon script lettering on the label came along after the early '70s.
