Hi everyone. I’ve been very lucky to inherit what I believe to be a 1960 A-150. I know it’s beautiful but apart from that, I’m clueless. I feel it needs insuring and I’d love to find out as much as I can about it. Could anyone give me the benefit of their expertise around how rare these are, any other details or potential value? It’s been gigged plenty around London, but I’d say in good condition. You may also notice that it was mis-labelled as an X-150 - a member of a Facebook group pointed this out to me after I’d been completely confused by it! Thank you in advance

Welcome to LTG, and that is a beautiful Guild! You might get more responses if this was moved to the "Archtops and hollow bodies" section of the forum.

Vicky,
Welcome to LTG, and the arrival of the A-150. According to Hans Moust's The Guild Guitar Book your A-150 was made in 1960, and has one of the more interesting, and rarer, labels inside....the so-called "Ghost Label." The guitar appears to be in excellent shape. A pic of the back would be welcome.

Gosh, Vicky. Welcome aboard. That's a lovely guitar. You don't usually see 60 year old Guilds that have been gigged a lot in such clean condition.

What do you mean about insuring? Are you looking to sell it? If you're planning to keep it, I'm sure you can get lots of thoughts about what to do re: care and feeding. As mentioned, the guitar looks very clean to start with.

The used guitar market in the US is rather different (cost-wise) than most of Europe, including the UK so I fear most of our opinions about value will not be of much use to you. Your best bet might be to take it to an expert guitar shoppe in London and see if you can get an estimate from someone in the business there.

Or, of course, our UK-based members might have a better idea.

Hi Vicky,
Welcome. Such a beautiful old guitar. To get an initial rough idea you can look at Reverb sold listings. See if there are a few around the same period and condition. As was said then you might want to find respected local luthier to assess it’s condition.
