Just a word of caution for all the geezers out there, that live in snow country.....When it comes to snow removal and shoveling, NO WHEN TO STOP! Don't find out the hard way like I did the other day. Seems the 'ole ticker didn't like me over working him and he decided to give me bit of a scare to say the least.

Good news is wasn't anything too serious this time, but I will have to go through the 4-5 hour stress test at the hospital first thing tomorrow morning.

Like they say, "No fool like an old fool".

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year everyone.

Golly, Terry!! Glad that you're okay. Sometimes it takes scary things like that to remind us we're not 20 years old any more. Or even 40, or 50!! I tend to forget myself, but I also have some factors that limit my even ATTEMPTING things beyond my range these days. Take care and let us know how the test goes, okay? :D

Terry, glad to hear you're okay, and please take it easy. You're kind of vital to the organization. Perhaps it's time for a snowblower, if you don't already have one.

Well, this morning, the boss demanded that I go home and take it easy for the rest of the day. Sweet! :D The perfect opportunity to spend some quality time with my S-100 (which doesn't happen nearly as often as it should).
So that's what I've doin' all day 8) I think I'll find a different way to accomplish that next time though

You take care of yourself now, Terry! Too much living still to do!

I'm just glad that we don't get much snow around here!

Thanks for all the kind words you guys.
Funny how one can be motivated by a wake up call like that.
With a proper diet and exercise (in short increments of course), I should have my boyish figure back by ice out

+1 on the diet and exercise.
Nothing's easier than getting the body used to doing nothing.
And the older we get, the easier it is too.

Glad you're good Terry, just remember to put the S-100 down from time to time, and go hiking or something ;)
Take care of yourself!

Boy that says it right there BP.
Interesting how just a year ago I was in the gym playing volleyball in the local competitive league on the first night of the season and feeling damn good about being 60 yrs. old and still able to show many of the guys half my age how the game is played (funny how some of them didn't have an appreciation of that) 8) .
Wouldn't you know, I shredded my upper bicep tendon half way through the match. :( Tried to have it surgically repaired, couldn't do anything all winter and blah...blah...blah...here I am.
I'm reasonably confident I can turn that around. Actually I don't think I have a choice.
Anyway, the whole gist of the story, is about how easily things can go south on a person if your not careful

The issue with shovelling snow is not so much the excertion as it is breathing the cold air. At least that's what I was told after my heart surgery a few years back. But then again, even having lived in upstate N.Y. most of my life, I haven't shovelled snow since I was 14 years old. Never thought it a detterent and it does go away. Hell, we don't even have a snow shovel.

Oh BTW; Joe, whose the young dude in that picture.

Peace

Why that's yours truly, Doc....16 years ago!! :D

I was trying to figure out what to do with 42" of snow in the backyard!
It was great, especially since it was a freak of a snowstorm.

Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas (favorite Christmas song),
Joe

Good point Doc. I tried my best to replicate what had happened, on the treadmill this morning during the stress test, but I just couldn't get there. The Dr. finally shut me down. That got me thinking about the combination of all day on and off exertion and breathing the cold air. A mask would be in order from now on and I'll replace the manual plow lift on the atv with a winch . Also, I think I'll do the shovel work first and then use the plow and snow blower after a cool down period with the Guild. :)

Heart ran on all cylinders during that test, but I won't know the results of the imaging test for a few days.

Way to go. Sounds like it was a good test really. I went to the VA for a stress test one day and they wanted to due the chemical stress test. I said, "No way". They told me I could do the treadmill if I wanted ("It's your hour") but I could still have an attack on the treadmill. To which I replied, "Yeah, but I can step off the treadmill". In a chemically induced stress test the first thing that has to be done in the event of a heart attack is deal with the chemical before they can deal with the heart attack. The treadmill seems like a no brainer for me; especially since I'm physically able to do one. Were I not ambulatory I could understand.

Also, I got back on my motorcycle 3 months after my heart surgery. I had to put on a windshield if the temperature was below 65 degrees as the cold really affected me. I could feel pressure. I'm o.k. now thank God. Nurse said my heart was fixed and that diabetes was going to kill me. Well Gee, thanks for that info. Dealing with diabetes is a damn pain in the ass and after nearly a half dozen years I still don't have it entirely under control. I actually was doing pretty good until they discovered I was allergic to the Lantus insulin. Starting over again and it's tough; seems I can't anything I actually like.

Let us know what the pics/scan says.

Peace

I hear ya Doc, got the diabetes thing going too. I guess I'm fortunate that it's borderline stage which can be controlled through diet.
Hey, things could be worse, right?
The REAL stress test is coming for me in a few days though "CHRISTMAS WITH THE RELLIES" My wife's brother's family is the kind they make movies about, if you know what I mean.

The Christmas Spirit(s) has worked well with that in the past.

You know Terry, you have to learn some new skills as you get older. Procrastination can be very useful at times like this. If you can maintain a willingness to do the job while managing to put it aside until say May, then I can pretty well guarantee you it'll become a non-issue. Procrastination may run in your family already but with a little less effort you can teach it to gallop. Attitude is everything    Steffan
