I wouldn't let the presence of a Fishman deter me from buying a guitar I love.
I've owned a few. I currently own 5 Fishman pick-ups in guitars.
(2 F65ce's, 1 Vietnamese Classical, 1 Vietnamese jumbo, 1 Vietnamese
dreadnought cutaway).
I don't like the sound of acoustic pick-ups in general. But the pick-ups
have never given me any problem. And once in a while, it's fun to plug
them in.
I installed a K&K Pure Western MIDI (no hole necessary) on my D60.
I have an LR Baggs in a Vietnamese dreadnought I own.
I'd say the K&K & LR Baggs sound 5% better than the Fishman.
But neither pick-up equals the unplugged sound. And in fact,
none of these pick-ups are an improvement on a DiMarzio
sound-hole pick-up.
