Hello- I am doing my first setup on my Starfire 4. My first step was to check the truss rod relief -- at the seventh fret, it is .010 at the sixth string and exceeds .020 at the sixth string. My string set is 11-49. Should the gap be the same across all strings? If so, what should I do next? Thanks for any suggestions

The bridge can be adjusted on each end to set your preferred action. Beyond that, it's a matter of personal preference as to how low you want the action. Assuming the trussrod is set up correctly, lower it til it buzzes, then raise it a hair at a time til it stops.
Unless I'm misunderstanding your question?

I don't know whether the bridge should be parallel to the strings or whether it is acceptable for the bridge to be tilted. Mine is tilted so the 6th string is twice as far from the fretboard as the first string.

Sure, it's acceptable. It may be that the bass strings travel a great distance when they vibrate or maybe the previous owner was a ham-fisted rythmn guitarist. Adjust the bridge til the action feels right for you and then check the intonation so it's in tune all the way up the neck and voila'

Thanks for the feedback. BTW, I am laughing pretty hard.

The only way the bridge can be parallel to the strings is if you take it off entirely.
Sorry just couldn't resist :)
