I've been watching the Weather Channel this morning and can't believe the contrast in Texas weather from last year's drought to the current flooding.
Well, I guess I can believe it, but I'd like to hear from the Tejas contingent on LTG, just to know how you're all weathering the storm. :?:

OK here in South Central Tejas, Joe. Thanks for asking.

We got almost four inches of rain night before last, much of which ran off as the ground is quite hard from the drought, but a real blessing none-the-less. Brought the drought designator down from exceptional to extreme.

There's a song in there someplace... think I'll try to find it :D :D

I would guess I am about 50-60 miles up the road from Ken. Last night was windy but more or less calm. The night before was complete chaos. A big lightning storm rolled through Austin. It seemed like lightning hit our neighborhood at least 5 times that night. The local news, the following morning, had a lightning count going which was at ~600 at the time. Austin has a big network of creeks and we have one in our backyard (forces us to buy flood insurance). I was worried that it was going to overflow like much of the ones throughout the town, but we got lucky. It was filled to capacity, but did not overflow. Schools were delayed, but that is all that I am aware of. Sunny today with a high in the mid 60s. 8)

Two days & nights of rain in North Texas, Joe. Light rain this morning but just about to stop. Just over 6" of rain,,, no real flooding in my area,,, out in the sticks,,, South of Fort Worth but most of the stock tanks have overflowed their banks.

We had some wind and lightning but nothing ferocious. It's been wonderful. I went out and stood in it when it fisrt started. Had forgotten how good it smells when a real shower cuts loose.

Up here, I had 4" in the rain gauge yesterday. We had a small squall roll through on Tuesday, with some wind and lightning, but nothing to write come about compared to so of the spring stuff we get. Stock ponds are still low, but looking much better. We'd like some more rain, but for now, we're very thanful.

Just got an update from some friends who live in west San Antonio. I am not sure if a funnel cloud actually hit, but their neighbor no longer has a roof. They said some folks did see a funnel cloud in the area and we all did have tornado warnings a couple nights ago.

Texas sounds a bit like Australia with the fire & flood scenario. We've got some bad flooding again in parts of the country - heat waves in other areas.

Stay safe guys.

You know, I seem to always associate North Texas with severe weather, and we probably get a bit more than you brothers down south, but then I remember Jarrell, not too far north of you guys. At that time I was between marriages and was dating a lady that volunteered at Jarrell in the aftermath and she gave me several first hand accounts of the damage.

Actually sucked home foundations and asphalt right off the ground.

I recall that vividly, Jim. Still breaks my heart what those poor folks went through.

Tough and hardy lot; they bounced right back without a whimper...

Just read the post, I've had internet connectivity problems because of the storms. Really high winds here in Boerne (had the old live oaks swaying a bit - only lost a few branches). Received just over 4" of rain all within a few hours. Thankful for the rain, however.
