I got some Dunlop felt pics to try out and was surprised they were only beveled on one side. The "bottom" side is just clean cut edges, like a scissors edge would be. So you cannot pick up/down/up/down and expect the same tone.
Are all felt pics like this?

Who makes one beveled on both sides?
Maybe I can sand the edges on the bottom side to bevel them.

I still like my plastic Herco gray pick better!

Dunno. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/anyone-use-felt-picks.1389310/ had some ideas, the best of which (IMO) were to explore felt picks marketed for other instruments.

Given how you are often concerned about things that I do not understand as problems, I want to commend you for clearly stating you want similar sounds from up and down strokes. That I easily understand and would try and fix if I used a pick.

I have these, but I really haven't spent time with them. They are right angle cut on both sides, with a die or something, but the up and down are consistent, and I would think the felt ones would turn beveled pretty quickly with use.

The green ones are a soft feeling flexible polymer, they are more durable than you might guess. If you hold them closer to the tip they don't sound that different than plastic (the attack is a bit less percussive), but if you hold them closer to the middle they do produce more of an upright bass with gut strings sound.
