In the past several years, there have been discussions on this board of F-612s, and folks have purported to own one, though I don't remember seeing any photos when I did a search of LTG.

Having just traded my D-212 'Burst on an even nicer vintage F40 (those not so jumbo Blondes do have their allure....whereas a F50 might be a 5' 10" lady with hips,...an F40 could be a nicely proportioned gal of say....5' 8".........so much for the sexist analogies) I think I might look for another 12. Treem just snagged a JF-55-12....so maybe I"ll play His once in a while till the GAS attack subsides.

Fred, valleyguy, and I were checking out some local shops....playing a number of very nice Guilds....Gibson's and Martins. There was one Gibson that kept calling to Fred, I think it was a J-160 or 180....nice sounding and playing. In a conversation with one of the owners, I just happened to mention that I might be in the market for a vintage F-512 if one came in and would He take a vintage Guild in trade?

He took my card and said nonchalantly, "....by the way, would you be interested in a F-612? I have a client that has one, bought it in the '80s and there's an outside chance that He might be interested in selling it...I'll let you know..."

The Reality Check is that the guitar probably isn't for sale....which will save me from having to rationalize such a potentially irrational purchase. Just for argument's sake, I'm aware that they are rarer than a balanced National Budget as they made just a few, ....has anyone seen one at auction, or anywhere else lately? I could not find a comp, at least Online.

Steffan,
Maybe we could put together a Consortium.....of a dozen people...sell shares, and rotate it on a monthly basis. It could spend the Summer in Canada....just south of Vancouver? I know Treem would want in....

Seriously, I was floored when He suggested that there was a remote chance that one might be available.

David, I don't have to convince you, do I, that summer lasts 6 months in Canada....everyone knows that.... In fact some people come here for 6 months, then decide to spend the night.... others come because they heard a 1 night stand lasts 6 months....  So let it spend the summer here? GREAT idea... I'll be 1st in line eh!..... Steffan

Keep us posted, David. Some of us would be very interested in one of these.

edit: By the by, I haven't heard of one changing hands in the last few years. If nothing else, ask the shopowner to pass along word of LTG to the owner and maybe we can cajole him/her into posting some pictures and letting us live vicariously. :)

Yeah but there's a 90 day incubation period for some of the stuff you could catch there...best count your toes every morning for the next couple of months, make sure you haven't lost any, all of a sudden...

OK, let's start planning the rotation for David's 612. I could probably afford to have it for a day or two....... Guess I'll have to give up my first born.

Was watching a PBS begging show last night of an old John Denver special. Had one scene of him playing that beauty, though the film was from the 70s and pretty fuzzy. The thing still blinded me..... As an aside, it's funny how in later years he started using Taylor jumbos and 12 strings.

Fred,
You know that if by some miracle that I was able to acquire this particular F-612....I would let you borrow it for Sylmar....just so I could enjoy your playing? The boy can pick....

I'm going to wait a few days before I follow up on it...don't want to appear too anxious. If nothing else, maybe I'll be able to at least see it, and if I'm really lucky.....play it.

Fred, just wanted to comment on your new AVATAR.....I don't remember seeing that particular bathroom accessory last weekend.....is it in one of the other bathrooms?

You know I was wondering the other day...which will come first...the live capture of a Sasquach...or someone here buying an F612.......then I thought maybe neither...because perhaps they are both mythical creatures... I actually would have bet on the sasquach.....  Steffan

If my memory serves me correctly, John Denver changed to Taylor because of their electronics. He also fell in love with their Koa Guitars.
