Received the F-35ce today!
So, first impressions are that it plays like I expected, great low action, comfortable neck sweet sound. It is a little brighter than my dreadnoughts (D15, D25 D40C) and that was a little surprising since it’s the same wood combo as my D40C and is a jumbo.
It’s got a nice but different sound. Quieter than my D15 and D40, with the arched back I didn’t expect it to be quieter but I guess the smaller oval sound hole accounts for that difference? Also, haven’t changed strings or cleaned it up yet so new strings might make a difference. It is more comfortable than I expected too, this being my first jumbo, I guess I expected the size to be noticeable too when playing but it really isn’t.
Plugged in, I really like the electronics, it sounds really good to my ear, I’m not really an A/E player so my ear is “untrained” in this area but it works well and sounds good.
So all in all this is a really good guitar. This one has been around the world and the checking and crazing really shows a guitar that has seen some stuff and may have an advanced “patina” for its age but has not been abused.
I’m not sure I’m going to hang in to it though as the A/E probably needs to be in the hands of someone who plays outside of their living room and though the sound is great and different than my others I don’t know that it will displace any of my dreadnoughts when I reach for a guitar.
Definitely glad I bought it though and a change of strings may just open a whole new world (it’s happened before), so I haven’t 100% made up my mind yet.
